I have plenty of space but am unsure about the costs, who o get to build it etc..etc…

your probably looking at up to £5000
You should consider using concrete, bricks, steel beams, wood, cinder blocks, etc. It may be illegal depending on where you live and according to the building codes in your city/town. Check with the city/town building authority before building. Good Luck
Log cabins are expensive. This is mostly due to the labor involved and the difficulty installing the utilities.
remember to allow for their age and abilities,maybe they would need a ramp, one of those baths that you can step in., and even an alarm to alert you or emergency services, and then the cost, will depend on many factors, like what type of base it will sit on, will it have full heating or gas?
Without zoning permission, you can’t. Get that first before you start getting estimates
