If you don’t have very much space outdoors for gardening you are just going to have to settle for an indoor garden and the plants that you can grow inside until you find some place that is better for outdoor gardening. If your home does have a yard you will need to figure out how much of that yard you are going to set aside for your new garden. The space that is available will help you figure out just what you can grow and how extensive your garden will be. A small indoor garden, for example, might not be the best place to try to grow fruit or vegetables that grow on vines. Decide what it is that you want to grow. Different types of plants have different needs. Each type of plant has its own soil and nutrient requirements–you’ll need to have these set up before you plant. If you plan out your garden in advance you’ll be able to ensure that you have everything you need ready to go. When you don’t plan your garden ahead of time you run the risk of accidentally killing everything before it has a real chance to grow. It is absolutely fine to plant a varied garden but different plants have different needs so make sure to plan out your garden ahead of time before you plant even one seed.Start simply. You probably envision having an entire yard that is full of plants that are blooming. If you haven’t ever grown your own garden, you should start with just a plant or two. When you do this you get a “trial run” which will keep you from having to worry about wasting a bunch of time on something that you might not wind up enjoying. You need time, commitment and patience if you want to be a gardener. After all, you wouldn’t agree to marry a person if you haven’t ever gone on a date with them would you? Why set your whole yard aside for veggies if you’ve never even sprouted a lima bean? Beginning a garden is hard work but tons of fun. Your garden will be bountiful if you first take some time to learn about gardening. Have fun with your garden!
