While some people are unlucky and have no garden and others have a small garden, there are many out there who have a wealth of outdoor space. Now, while that can mean you have plenty of space for outdoor entertaining and all your vegetable growing pursuits, it can leave you with a lot of under utilised space.
In my mind that is a bit of a waste so if you do have some extra space, why not consider using it to your advantage? Here are a couple of few ideas on how to make better use of that space in your garden
Get a greenhouse
One thing I’d love to have room for is a greenhouse! If you love growing fruit and vegetables and you have space, you should seriously consider going for a greenhouse in your garden.
Sure, you might currently just have some vegetable patches in your yard, and while they are handy, especially for someone new to gardening, a greenhouse opens you up to a lot more opportunities. You will have plenty of room to grow as much fruit and veg as you like (size permitting). In fact, you might make enough to give to friends or family, or even sell on to market traders!
The other advantage of a greenhouse is that you can take part in your hobby whether it’s raining or the sun is shining. Of course, greenhouses are not just restricted to fruit and veg. You can grow exotic plants and flowers too that the outdoor climate in your area might not be able to maintain.
Build a shed or workshop
It’s also a good idea to consider using the extra space for some form of garden shed or workhouse. After all, with a garden shed, you can have space for all your outdoor equipment. You can also use it to keep things like water hoses and lawn mowers protected when the weather takes a turn for the worst.
As for a workshop, it can give a DIY fan plenty of space to make some amazing bits. In fact, you can use it as a project room to ensure you can whip up a table or a chair in no time. You won’t have to worry about causing a mess inside your property, you can even take part in some DIY by making the workshop.
For example, if you look into a company which sells steel buildings, you can find a solid workshop you can make for your garden which is a perfect way to utilise the space you have!
Expand your outdoor entertaining area
It’s always fun to have friends and family over in the summer months. I mean is there anything better than an outdoor party in the sunshine?
OK, perhaps not if you’re sensitive to the sun but that’s when you incorporate some shady areas and with some thought, that additional space can make an outdoor entertaining area much better than just a table and a few chairs dotted around.
In fact, you might want to go for a hot tub which will be perfect for those summer and autumn nights. Throw in a great chiminea and fire pit and you’ve also sorted out how to warm your your family and friends in those winter evenings too.
If you have a lot of space, why not look into getting a pool? It’s the perfect way to entertain your guests, and of course the kids will love it too!
Speaking of kids, you might want to consider turning that extra space in your garden into a mini playground. Get some great playground activity and some cute playhouses and watch their faces light up with excitement!
