Your garden should be placed in a location where it will be easy to provide it with water and maintain the weeds. For instance, if you’re going to plant a grassy lawn, you will need to know where it goes in respect to the garden. Sunlight is another issue to consider in that some plants like it and others do not. Once you have a general idea of what your garden will look like, you need to consider a few more obvious things. As long as you can walk through your garden without crushing any of your vegetables or flowers, you have designed your garden well. The patterns in a garden design are usually very pretty, but they do come with some difficulties in regard to keeping the yard mowed which can be difficult depending upon the garden shape. All gardeners need to realize that they must water their garden everyday. The people that are the luckiest are those that live where it rains most of the time. Typically, turn the summer months when it is much more warm, will your garden need water to grow. You also have to consider how you are going to water your garden whether by water hose or some type of system. One way you can have this accomplished automatically is to buy a drip feed system were the hoses have small holes that gradually water your plants everyday.

A final tip that you should know is that companion planting is a great way to keep pests away from your garden. Many pairs of plants that grow together can do very well for a variety of reasons. You may also find that some plants have insect-repelling properties, so these are great to plant alongside other varieties that tend to attract bugs. Marigolds are often used by gardeners to protect their tomatoes from would-be saboteurs. The marigold plant is able to protect your tomatoes because of its unique odor which most insects do not enjoy. The scent of parsley is actually a wonderful deterrent for protecting rose plants against rose beetles that will harm the plant. Aphids are another type of pest that can harm your garden and Nasturtiums is used to keep them away. When you use gardening tips that help to take much of the hard work out of gardening, you’ll find it much easier to enjoy. Choose your plants wisely for the area you live in and the amount of time you want to spend caring for them.
