Im moving and need advice for transplanting and making cuttings?

lightningpaw asks: Im moving and need advice for transplanting and making cuttings?
I have a bunch of fox gloves that are in bloom and I have till the 28 th to move should I transplant them in pots soon with the flowers in boom or should I wait to transplant right before I move and directly plant them in my new garden? Any advice would be great.

Also, I have a well established clematis and was wondering the best way to take a cutting and root it without using root hormones. Where should I cut it? Or is it possible to dig it up and transplant it without hurting it? Thanks!

  1. don’t foxgloves only bloom every two years…?
they are pretty when they bloom, but they are also poisonous….
I honestly wouldn’t bother them and let them be…. but that’s just me..

the clematis, I would dig up the entire plant, and have a hole dug before hand at the
new place… It may not perform well this year, but it will definately come back next year… =)

  2. Pots might be too small for the foxglove plants. Do you have any empty 5 gallon buckets? That would hold more earth.

Alternatively, you could get some cardboard boxes and put plastic garbage bags over then. Then put the dirt in and plant the foxgloves. Keep them watered.

Try digging up the clematis. There might be smaller roots which you could take. They might be easier to transplant.
