Now Is The Time of Year For Gardeners To Plan Ahead

Article by Maxi Media Matters

It is the time of year in the gardening calendar to browse over gardening catalogues or search the Web for places to purchase all your plants and seeds for the coming year. Although its dull and dreary outside there are still jobs to do in the garden, pruning, leaf collecting for the compost, and making sure plants are protected from winter colds and frosts.

Every keen gardener loves his or her garden, and delights in trying out new plants and filling up spaces in amongst perennial plants and shrubs. The easiest of gardens would be filled with trees, perennials, bushes like English lavender plants that sit in our gardens for ever it would seem, but most gardeners are not content with this, they want to have a year long show of colours and different blooms that are eye catching, and offer up a wonderful scent.

Some gardeners would want to experiment with garden seeds, planting and nurturing them and grow their own plants with flower and vegetable seeds. It is a reward for any gardener to see a crop from sowing to flowering, and of course children love to get in on the act as well, and it gives hours of pleasure not to mention the satisfaction of growing your own garden using seeds.

Garden plants come in all shapes and colours from annual garden plug plants to jumbo perennial, plants for kitchen gardening, ornamental garden plants and edible seeds. Wonderful plants such as climbers, rose bushes, shrubs, clematis plants, bulbs and bare roots and much more besides.

Christmas is just around the corner and for someone who is well into the hobby of gardening, there is a multitude of gifts that one can send to them that will make it all the more special as a shrub, tree, or bush, is a living thing and can give years of pleasure to the recipient.

Make up a gift basket with garden seeds, garden bulbs, or maybe pot up winter plants, or think what pleasure a hanging basket would bring to hang in a dining room, lounge or kitchen, all planted with seasonal hanging basket plants.

The best inspiration one can get is from the Internet there are plenty of garden centres that have it all, flowers, plants, containers, trees, gardening books, accessories and some even sell gift vouchers, give it up to the modern way of shopping and get online and do your search.

A spokesman for Blooming Direct a horticultural business based on the beautiful floral island of Jersey said, “Jersey with its warming southerly aspect and high light levels has an unrivalled worldwide reputation for excellence and innovation in horticultural produce. It’s the time of year for giving gifts why not give something different this year with something for the garden.
