Singapore Botanical Garden, one of the largest botanical reserves on the planet, stretches itself over 52 hectares. With numerous kind of vegetation, a visit to garden is a rewarding experience for any nature lover. Credit of establishing Botanical Garden goes to Sir Stafford Raffles, the person who is the founder of modern Singapore.
Categorical DivisionThe garden has been segregated mainly into four parts: Orchid Garden, Evolution Garden, Ginger Garden and Rain Forest.
Orchid GardenThis is the most popular section in the Singapore Botanical Gardens . Located in the mid-western side of the Garden, the Orchid Garden lies over a hilly landscape. The Garden has about 1,000 plant species and 2,000 orchid hybrids.
Evolution GardenStretching itself over 1.5 hectares, Evolution Garden lies in central part of the Botanical Gardens. The garden intends to know about the evolution of plant life on our planet. It is the most recent of the sections in the garden, but has become popular.
Ginger GardenOccupying one hectare of the Gardens, it sits next to the National Orchid Garden. It offers the plants related with ginger family. You can purchase your gifts in the shop here and the restaurant takes care of the dining needs of the visitors. You can also pass some delightful time at the waterfall here. It is a very good place to enjoy picnic.
Rain ForestA rain forest within a city as dense as Singapore is a surprising fact in itself. The forest has great variety of vegetation, making it a fantastic place for the people interested in nature.
More AttractionsBotanical Garden has more places to visit other than the four categories. One could visit places such as Sundial Garden, Sun Garden, Botany Center, Saraca Stream Walk, Palm Valley, Green Pavilion, and Bandstand Area. The three impressively beautiful lakes, namely Symphony Lake, Eco Lake and Swan Lake, also beckon. You could even enjoy Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage on Symphony Lake. A musical concert is the perfect event to end the tour of the garden.
Reaching ThereYou could hire a taxi from any part of Singapore to reach the garden. A bunch of local buses are also available, specially from Holland Road and Bukit Timah Road.
