Where to Find the Most Qualified Gardening Help
Article by Tracey Guzzo
If you are thinking about growing a garden or plan on one and it is more than you can handle, you should consider getting a person or yard service to help out a little.
You will need to decide exactly what you would like to have assistance with and how much you can manage to pay. Many of us enjoy doing our garden work, but often find the tasks at hand are too intense for what we can offer by ourselves. As you read on, you will find suggestions that may help you decide the right way to go about finding help.
Just like you’d want to see references before hiring any type of contractor who was going to work on your home, the same should apply to a gardener. An experienced and reputable gardener or landscaping company should be able to provide you with at least one or more local references. You may be able to find verifiable testimonials on the company’s website, though not every qualified gardener necessarily has a site. It’s usually sufficient to call up one reference of testimonial just to make sure it’s for real. There are several essential qualities you want in the gardener you hire -experience, skills, courtesy and reliability. It’s important to find someone who’s professional, so you know they’ll finish the job and do it the way you requested. References are essential when hiring anyone to work on your home or property, including a gardener or landscaper.
Previous to actually giving someone the job; sit down and do some figuring to see precisely what you will be having them do. Don’t let someone oversell you on full time maintenance when all you need is someone to come by once in a while. If you have an unusually large garden space, your helper should not be required but every other week or so. If you have a garden that requires more care and time than a typical garden, you will need to have an idea of how much extra time and will need to talk this over with your potential helper. When your job consists of a simple grounds clean up; of course the job will be an one time proposition and will not need long term care. You may want to talk to several gardeners or companies to get an idea of how much time and labor the job will cost you.
You should carefully choose the time you call a gardener or landscaper. Just before spring is upon us, the call for gardeners is particularly high. If you do find a gardener that is out of work during this portion of the year; it could be a sign of unreliability. The best thing to do would be to begin making plans with your gardener during the winter months. If you are able to prearrange the time you will need your gardener; you will have half the battle won already. This will enable you to take care of any prep work that you would like to do to get ready for your project. If you want your garden or landscaping to come out exactly the way you want, hiring the right help can make a big difference. You do, however, want to be sure that you hire the appropriate person or company to work on your garden. Once you’ve found someone who you’re confident is qualified, you’ll soon be able to reap the rewards of a healthy garden.
