Free 30th Birthday Presents Can Still Make An Impression When Money Is Tight

Article by Toni Nivens

Have you heard the expression that the best things in life are free? Well the same can be true for the best free 30th birthday presents. Often overlooked when it comes to presents is the gift of our time to loved ones. With some simple materials and a little time and effort, you can create memorable free 30th birthday presents for your family and friends.

Below are a few ideas to get you started:

Homemade, handmade gifts can make very inexpensive or even free 30th birthday gifts for your loved ones.

Here are some of my personal favorites:

Hand-painted Glasses or Serving Dishes

Wine or cocktail glasses make for perfect background for hand-painted subjects. You can give just one or create a set of specialty glasses paired with a special bottle of wine or recipe card of your favorite martini. Packaging can make a big impression and doesn’t need to cost a lot. A simple painted or decorative wooden box with some raffia or shredded tissue, tied with a pretty ribbon, makes a beautiful and treasured presentation.

Another idea on this same vein, is to purchase a clear serving platter and paint the underside of the platter (the side that doesn’t come in contact with the food), so that the pattern shows through from above. Add some homemade cookies or dessert and you have a perfect birthday present.

Homemade Natural Home Accents

Think of free raw materials that can be used to make gifts. Seashells, pinecones, small pebbles and decorative stones, and small sticks make great for great natural resources. A handmade seashell mirror, wreath or candle holder makes a useful home accent. Pinecones, pebbles and small sticks are another free raw material that can be used to make decorative items such as wreaths, picture frames and centerpieces. Use your imagination and think about your birthday present recipient’s interests and decorating style to decide upon an appropriate craft project.

Give of Yourself – The Gift of Time

The premise of giving anyone a gift is to let them know that they are remembered, valued and meaningful in your life. If your friend of family member is short on time and needs some extra help just keeping up, you can pitch in to help them. Cook up a few special meals and package them individually to provide a healthy, quick dinnertime meal. Bake some cookies or a special dessert as a special treat. Offer to help with household chores such as cleaning, gardening, lawn care or other must-do’s for your friend or family. Most likely they’ll pitch in with you and the time spent together will make the chore go much more quickly.

Give a Personal Lesson in Your Area of Expertise

Teach your friend or family member a new skill in which you have expertise. Do you play an instrument? A Sport? Garden? Know how to paint or draw? If your special someone has an interest in learning this skill, schedule time each week to give them a lesson on that particular subject so they can master it as well.

Sometimes the best things in life do come free and can be given for free 30th birthday presents. Take some time to think about and research your recipient’s interests to make your gift personal and meaningful.
